Hallo, Alle! Hello Everyone!
Nach achtzehn Jahren, versuche ich endlich ein Buch über meinen Erlebnisse in Jena und in der DDR Herbst 1989 zu schreiben. Ein großes Unternehmen wird es sein, denn nicht nur ist mein Deutsch heutzutage kaum benutzt, aber vieles ist verlernt worden, ie. Grammatik, Wortschatz, Satzstellung. Oh weh!
After eighteen years, I am finally going to write a book about my experiences in Jena and in the GDR (East Germany) during the Fall of 1989. It will be a big undertaking, not only because my German is so rarely used today, but also because I have forgotten so much, ie. grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure. Oh, ouch!
Dieses Werk könnte viele Jahren dauern. Ich weiß nicht wie viel, aber Zeit ist uns, wie mit fast jedem, gering, und wird immer geringer. Immerhin, so scheint es mir!
This work could take many years. I don't know how many, but for us time has, like with most these days, many contsraints. Anyway, that's how it seems.
Trotzdem aller sprachlichen und zeitlichen Schwierigkeiten, muß das Buch geschrieben werden. Warum war mir das Erlebnis erlaubt, wenn ich es mit der Welt nicht teile? War das Ganze nur für mich zu erleben? Wozu denn? Wäre es nicht besser wenn ich etwas kleines zurück geben könnte? Hat man den Zeitgeist noch? ... :-). lol
Despite all the language and time difficulties, this book simply must be written. Why was I allowed to have this experience, if I don't share it with the world? Was the whole thing just for me? Why? Wouldn't it be better if I could give a little bit back? Do we still have the "Zeitgeist"? ... :-)
Mein Traum dafür ist großartig: ein zweisprachiges (Deutsch und Englisch) Buch, das in der Schule benutzt werden kann, sogar auch selbständig als Novel stehen kann. Aber mir ist es wirklich egal, ob mein Buch viel verkauft wird. Es muß einfach geschrieben werden!
My dream for this project is big: a dual language book (German and English), which can be used in schools, and which can also stand alone as a novel. But it really doesn't matter to me how many copies sell. The book simply must be written!
Dieser Blogspot ist hoffentlich mehr ein Gespräch, als einen historischen Zeitlauf. Obwohl, die Historie spielt darin eine wichitge Rolle. Manchmal werde ich Fragen stellen, und ich hoffe jemand die Antwort hat. Kommentären sind herzlich willkommen (auf Englsich oder Deutsch), aber bitte nur die, die familienfreundlich sind. Alle andern werden ausgelöscht!
Hopefully, this blog will be more of a discussion, than a historical time-line. Though, the history does play an important roll. Sometimes I will ask questions, and hopefully somebody will know the answer. Commentaries are very welcome (in English or in German), but please, only those which are family-friendly. All others will be deleted!
